StateRetireesInsuranceFlyerMorrisonDEERFIELD – The governor’s recent decision to move most state retirees (including retired teachers) from their current insurance to Medicare Advantage has left many people with unanswered questions. To help address these concerns, the state Department of Central Management Services scheduled a series of seminars throughout the state.

However, none were scheduled for the northern suburbs, and after hearing from many upset area residents, State Sen. Julie Morrison (D-Deerfield) worked with CMS to schedule a special Saturday seminar.

Here are the details:

What: A seminar on the Medicare Advantage choices available to retired teachers and state workers

Who: Representatives from CMS will answer questions

Where: Buffalo Grove Performing Arts Center, 225 McHenry Road, Buffalo Grove

When: Saturday, November 16 at 10 a.m.

All retirees with questions are encouraged to attend this or another seminar. (The complete list of seminars is available at http://www2.illinois.gov/cms/Employees/benefits/trail/Pages/default.aspx.)

Retirees who do not select a Medicare Advantage plan by the December 13 deadline will lose access to state-subsidized insurance.
