DEERFIELD — State Senator Julie Morrison advanced a measure that would work to prevent dangerous medication interactions for patients who are prescribed Schedule II stimulants or opioids and Schedule IV benzodiazepines.
“The Prescription Drug Monitoring program is a vital tool for health care and law enforcement professionals to keep patients safe and prevent dangerous, potentially lethal drug interactions,” said Morrison (D-Lake Forest). “But when prescription interactions are not able to be tracked, we are leaving patients at risk for dangerous drug interactions or being provided repeat prescriptions.”

DEERFIELD — State Senator Julie Morrison is leading a measure that would increase road safety by providing an alternative of driving privileges for high-risk speeders and reckless drivers who are facing a license suspension.
According to a study conducted by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administration, roughly 75% of dangerous drivers facing standard penalties, like license suspension, continue to drive anyway.
To combat this, the measure would establish the Intelligent Speed Assistance Program to provide an alternative for drivers facing license suspension. The measure would offer certain high-risk speeding or reckless drivers whose driving has resulted in a conviction to install speed-limiting devices in their vehicles as a condition of driving privileges.

DEERFIELD — State Senator Julie Morrison is leading the charge with a measure that would establish emergency room workplace violence reporting requirements.
“Professionals should not have to worry about violence when working in the health care setting,” said Morrison (D-Lake Forest). “It is reported that health care workers are five times more likely to suffer from a workplace violence injury than workers overall. Frontline workers can’t keep waiting– we must act now.”

DEERFIELD — State Senator Julie Morrison is leading legislation that would ensure the Illinois State Police utilize the national DNA profile database CODIS to notify investigating agencies if a consistent DNA profile has been identified.
“The CODIS database is a valuable tool for law enforcement agencies to ensure our safety and seek justice for victims of crimes,” said Morrison (D-Lake Forest). “It is imperative that we continue to provide the administrative tools needed to ensure the Illinois State Police is able to utilize and contact investigating law enforcement agencies if a match is identified.”
