Nearly 50 employers from across the region teamed with Senator Julie Morrison and Congressman Brad Schneider last Thursday to connect job seekers with openings in a variety of fields.
“With hundreds of job openings available, being able to match people with their interests and needs was definitely worthwhile,” Morrison said.
The job fair featured a diverse array of companies and organizations, including those in the insurance, banking and health care fields, as well as temporary staffing agencies, service positions and state agencies – all of whom are looking to hire now.
Carolyn Osuyos with ERS International, an electronics recycling company in Buffalo Grove, participated in the event in hopes of hiring 20 to 30 people.
“Fortunately, we have received a new contract and within the next 30 days will be receiving truck loads of electronics,” Osuyos said. “The most efficient way for us to grow is to run a second shift – hence why we are here today.”
The event was held at the Wheeling Park District Community Resource Center and included a seminar on job search strategies. More than 300 job seekers participated.
